Submission Guidelines: Book Reviews

When submitting a book review for Perspectives, please follow these guidelines:
Choose a book that is current (published within the past 5-10 years).
Choose a book that is based on research or supported by research relevant to early childhood music and movement education.
- Choose a book that addresses a topic of interest and value to early childhood music and movement educators, such as 1) best practices in music and/or movement instruction for teachers of young children, pre-birth through age seven; 2) the role of music and/or movement in children’s early development; or 3) professional development for early childhood music and movement educators.
The word count for book reviews is 500-550 words. Use 10- or 12-point font and 1-inch margins. Send the book review and accompanying information as text in MS Word (.doc) to Perspectives Editor, Angela Barker.
Submission due dates: February 1 May 1 August 1 November 1
Along with the review of a book, reviewers must provide the following information:
The complete title of the book
The author(s) name(s)
The year the book was published
Name of the publisher
Number of pages in the book.
- Your name, credentials, and school/institution affiliation.
Book reviews submitted to Perspectives are subject to copyediting by the Editor. The Editor reserves the right to: 1) accept or reject a book review based on its relevance and/or appropriateness to the needs of Perspectives and ECMMA, 2) accept or reject a book review based on the reviewers’ adherence to the book review guidelines stated above, and 3) determine the issue of Perspectives in which a book review may be featured.
