    Early childhood music and movement is a burgeoning field. To keep abreast of all that is developing takes study and effort. But what a delightful field to study! Professional development in this relatively new field of endeavor is not a “sit-in-your-seat and be lectured to for days on end” effort. As with the children we serve, this requires a hands-on approach to our own development. How could it be otherwise?

    Professional development is pursued for many reasons: a) to increase one’s income by becoming better trained and having more to offer parents and employers; b) the prestige of belonging to a number of recognized organizations and/or achieving certifications in one or several of those organizations; c) curiosity and the love of continued learning for personal growth; d) the social aspects of…
