    While attending a research presentation on products marketed for babies, an item called the Baby Einstein Take Along Tunes caught my attention.  When a baby presses a large button on the toy, which resembles an iPod classic, classical music is heard. As I currently work in early childhood education, making music with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, I wondered what other products of this type I could find online and whether they were popular with parents.  When I searched for this product on Amazon.com,many other similar products appeared,such as the DVD Baby Einstein: Baby Mozart and a toy called “Munchkin Mozart Magic Cube” with large buttons to push. These items had generally positive customer reviews and I wondered to what degree this was due to the popular perception of something called the “Mozart Effect.” Looking further, I noted that there is a number of marketing schemes, articles, and online discussions…
