    The term 'creative arts' is a rather large umbrella that encompasses everything from music to movement, drama to visual arts, and many subdivisions in between. There is increasing interest and acceptance of the creative arts in early childhood education. Many of the fundamental elements of creative arts are easily incorporated in play and allow children in varying abilities to successfully participate and express themselves in the classroom.

    Resources in the creative arts are varied in their quality and scope. With an increased emphasis in our educational system on measuring specific outcomes, there is a great deal of specialization, which has left the creative arts literature lacking.
