    Music Education Situated in Today’s World

    The 21st century has witnessed an advance of technology that has transformed how knowledge is transmitted and how we communicate. The popular use of the internet has allowed people around the world to connect with each other in a much closer and easier way than ever possible. We can now learn about people living in distant countries through information that is readily available on our home computers. The increasing awareness of cultural diversity in the world has also become part of the living experiences of many of us, particularly those inhabiting urban areas of countries with a large population of immigrants. The movement toward equity and human rights in these countries has made it all the more important for educators to prepare the new generation in terms of their knowledge, skills and values to live successfully in a multicultural environment.
