Welcome to another issue of Perspectives! In this issue, we are featuring content that is varied and representative of a broad view of early childhood music and movement education. It is my hope you will find the diversity of ideas presented here helpful and thought provoking.
As you know, one of the greatest challenges for educators in any field is staying informed of current trends, best practices, and new ideas. Through Perspectives, ECMMA strives to provide content that is relevant to early childhood educators’ long-term and short-term professional needs, thereby enriching the lives of countless children.
In this continuing quest to keep ECMMA members up-to-date about topics pertinent to our field as well as our organization, a host of people review and provide feedback on the content of each Perspectives. The source of an issue’s content is drawn almost solely from the scholarly and insightful contributions of early childhood music and movement educators and researchers. Hence, we are always looking for knowledgeable authors to contribute research-based articles or book reviews on issues of interest to early childhood educators like you.
As the editor of Perspectives, I extend an open invitation to one and all to submit an article, book review, or research review for publication in an up-coming issue. If you’re more interested in sharing practical information with fellow teachers and parents regarding the importance of music and movement activities for young children, then you might consider writing a brief Notable Notes column.
Submission guidelines and general information about Perspectives is available on our homepage at www.ecmma.org/perspectives. As always, if you have questions or need additional information about submitting a manuscript for publication, please feel contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Since fall 2009, Perspectives has been published in two formats: print (hard copy) and online. We are happy to offer ECMMA members the option of receiving a copy of the journal in the mail, viewing it online, or both. Both print and online formats have unique benefits and are designed to meet the varied needs of educators in early childhood music and movement. With online Perspectives (www.ecmma.org/perspectives), ECMMA members have access to archived issues (2007 – present), a searchable database that gives you quick access to articles and reviews, the latest posts on the ECMMA blog, and a downloadable copy of the current issue of Perspectives. The printed version of Perspectives is also available and ECMMA members can inquire about subscribing to receive print copies by contacting the ECMMA Administrative Office at email@example.com.
